If I got a graded on it I probably would just barely get a passing grade. I like to clean at work, but not my own house? Strange, I know. For the life of me, I can't keep the house clean. I leave for work around 6:20 am and work until 4pm, I pick up JC from school, run errands (therapy appointments and karate 3 times a week), get home and I am wiped! I don't feel like cleaning, doing laundry and heaven forbidden...dishes.

It's not like it's dust-filled,rodent infested living by any means, just massive amounts of clutter, daily dishes and huge amounts of laundry. The JC bomb goes off in every room, every day and by the time he goes to bed, I'm not interested in picking it up. Lazy? yes. Tired and lazy...

I can only do "surface" cleaning, never down on your hands a knees scrubbing like what needs to be done. Tonight I tried to tackle some. I picked up dinner, did dishes, gave bath, did laundry in between, cleaned one bathroom, made Jc's lunch, swept floor, took out garbage, picked up TOYS! and straightened up the living room. All in 3 hours. I worked so fast my heart is pounding and I can't get to sleep. Whew. ..I'm spent.

And really, the only thing that made me try and get so much done tonight was the fact my "type A" cleaning mom is coming over tomorrow. I love her so much and only wish that I could keep up the house like she does, but she makes me feel guilty every time she comes over when my house is a mess. You know the looks? the look around the room and quietly glance over the dust, scattered toys and dirty floors and the interesting grimaces..Yup. I always feel bad... But I have to admit, she'd be the first one to help me clean if I asked her.

My question:
I don't understand how other mom's keep up. Do you have cleaning rituals? Schedules? surface clean as needed? How am I not being able to keep up? What's your secret...I wanna know untold secrets that I haven't been told yet. Any? I've purchased the swiffer's, the dusters, the I missing anything better? So far old rags and buckets of water and bleach are the best, but who has time?

I'm not a mom. In fact, we don't even have kids. But I hate cleaning too! My wife and I are away from the house at work anywhere from 10-12 hours a day. When we finally get home the last thing we want to do is clean.

There is dust on our stuff from when Clinton was president. Don't feel bad. You're not alone! :)

You are so not alone. I had a baby over 3 months ago and while I was on maternity leave my house was pretty clean, but now that I'm back at work OH LORDY!! I have to confess that I just hired a maid service to come in once a month. It's frivolous, but I'll scrimp somewhere else.

Hi! Thank you for visiting my photo hunt earlier. I appreciate it.

As much as I want to impress you and tell you that I do all the housecleaning, I'm afraid I'm not great at chores. We have a maid who does the daily cleaning. My son takes up most of the time and I'm glad that I have someone to help with the household chores.

I really look up to mothers who manage their time very efficiently doing household chores, taking care of the children, working and being a wonderful wife.

Kudos to you!

When I was working I hired a cleaning lady. Now that I'm home all the time the place stays a constant mess. I try to do a toy pick up once the kids are in bed(it's totally worthless as the second they wake up they undo anything I've done) but my best tip is that I clean the bathroom while they're in the tub. It's the only time they're locked in one spot and don't bother me or anything else.

That's so funny PBJboats...i clean the bathroom when he's in the tub too! then I scrub the tub when he's sleeping.

It's all about multi-tasking huh?

I leave the house about 7:30am and get home any where from 5 to 6 in the evenings.... our evenings are filled with activities, dinner, etc...The only way I've been able to manage working outside the home and getting things done is to have days for cleaning and doing certain tasks. I do laundry on Wednesday or Thursday... clean the house on Thursday so that on the weekends I don't have to focus on household chores. I still sweep and picking up the home almost daily... but I am VERY Type A about my house, etc! If I'm not organized I get super anal! Ask my hubbie!
