"If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older"
~Thomas Stoppard, British Playwright

I wish I could post my own child hood pictures, that would be hilarious. Let's see 1984 long light brown hair, 1986 short boy hair and my favorite 1988 with HUGE red glasses, 50 pounds overweight and a tight, tight perm. I looked ridiculous. So I tried to rack my brain on everything I loved as a child, and things that remind me of it.

My first instant memory of childhood this past week was the "poppy" that the American legion auxiliary ladies sold every year. My grandmother was one of those ladies and always had a poppy on her purse. I saw a woman this week with one attached to her purse just like Grandma always had and I had a flood of memories. The last time I saw a poppy was a her funeral when all the auxiliary ladies carefully placed one next to her. Such one little thing, like a poppy, has so many memories. (but no picutres of it...)

My other favorite memory of childhood is Christmas, it's still my favorite. I used to get up a 3 am because I was so anxious of Santa coming. My poor sister through the years of me waking her up at the crack of dawn. I always loved it. The smell of cookies, all the lights around town, snow and our tradition of listening to Amy Grant's Christmas album while decorating the tree.

So here is JC enjoying this past Christmas, I can only hope that he will have the fond memories of our Christmas that I did with mine...

Oh yes, Christmas is generally a childhood favorite expecting a gift from dear old santa. Looks like JC here is rummaging the stacks of gifts. :)

That snow angel picture is fantastic! It looks like there was only about an inch of snow on the ground. That's about what we get here in North Carolina and my girls always try to sled in it :)

That's what I wanna do if someday I have a chance to visit a 4-seasons country for Christmas. Making a snow angel! :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a good week end!

The snow angel is such a great representation of childhood! No worries about being cold or wet like you fear when you get to adulthood. Just an opportunity to PLAY!

Bet it would be really tough to find a kid in snow country who had never made a snow angel. Nice pictures!

I think we all had our "awkward" stage while growing up...I have one picture of me where I'm crosseyed, have a tooth missing in front and a bad haircut...refuse to post that one! LOL

No childhood is complete without Christmas mornings and snow angels, that's for sure!

That's a perfect snow angel capture. I think Christmas is a favorite time for many if not all kids. :)

That is a great snow angel... in Mississippi we rarely ever had enough snow to make a snowman so Nyssa would run out and quickly make a snow angel before it melted.

Each picture today reminds everyone of personal memories... just wonderful!

I have many wonderful memories of Christmas too while I was growing up. As a mom, I try to make each Christmas memorable to my son as well.

Thanks for sharing these lovely photos. Since we don't have snow here, I've never experienced making snow angels. It must be fun.

Sorry for my late visit. Take care!
