Cooking? You mean people really do that? What? that's unheard of...

Since it's not my favorite thing to do by any means,I leave the cooking up to my husband. Don't get me wrong, I can, I usually don't have a whole lot of time to do so. Baking? now that's therapeutic, like when I made these or these . Actually, if I were skinny, I would bake a lot more....

Last night JC made elephant ears from his Alpha Bakery Children's Cookbook. It's a really cute book for kids. He also has the Rainbow bakery book as well.

He worked hard to make his own "treats" last night...

Elephant Ears

1/4 cup of margarine or butter
1 cup of all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/3 cup of milk
3 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Sugar

1. Heat oven to 425
2. Grease cookie sheet with shortening
3. Heat Margarine until melted:set aside. Stir flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, the baking powder and salt in medium bowl. Stir in milk and 3 tablespoons of the melted margarine until dough forms.
4. Sprinkle a surface lightly with flour; turn dough onto surface. Knead 10 times. Roll dough with a rolling pin or pat with hands into a rectangle, 9x5 inches. Brush with remaining melted margarine, using a pastry brush; sprinkle with mixture of 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon.
5. Roll dough up tightly, beginning at the narrow end. Pinch edge of dough into roll to seal. Cut into 4 equal pieces with sharp knife. Place cut sides up on cookie sheet;pat each into a 6 inch circle. Sprinkle with more sugar.
6. Bake until golden brown, 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet with a spatula. Let cool on wire rack.

Makes 4

Believe it or not, they were kinda yummy. If I was making it again, I would add more cinnamon and sugar mix in step 4.

What a cutie pie! They look yummy. We have that cookbook - I really like it! My son made a few things when he was younger when he was learning his letters. Now I'm saving it till my daughter is old enough to do the same.

Mine's up with a slightly different take.

Personally, I love the Star Wars plate! That's cool that he has his own cook books and that he uses them. You're a cool mom to let him make a mess in the kitchen and explore things like cooking!

Thanks JC actually has his own kid size baking kit. He usually does like to bake, mostly to eat the dough. I don't blame him.
