Photo hunt: ART

Where to start? Art is so many things to different people, whether it's a painting, sculpture or a photograph. I see cooking as an art, as well as landscaping or even knitting. My thought of art, anything that one does to express them self and create a feeling. My way of expression has started to become photography. I may not know about exposure, shutter speed, lighting or even photo shop yet, but its a beginning.

Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in. ~Amy Lowell (1874-1925)

I tried painting this past winter. Hmm... childlike results almost, but I did have fun moving paint around on the canvas.

The colors were picked to match both mom's living rooms...they were gifts. I did keep the larger one on the bottom because it matched my living room...

Like I said, childlike, but it was fun...

When I take photos, they are always just for fun and usually something catches my eye. Looking back on all of my hundreds of pictures. I can tell when if I was feeling happy, sad or depressed when I took it. Interesting...my quick click of my camera, captured my mood at that time.

I went for a walk and saw this tree. I went for a walk in the park because I was feeling alone and empty. Just about every picture I took that day was sad, empty and lonely. They are all in my flicker page too.

Interesting enough by the end of the walk I was feeling better and taking shots of bright, cheery flowers...

I was at my mother's house here, It's bright and colorful. I was in a great mood this day!

This was taken one night while walking back to my car. JC and I had a rough night out with whining and crying. Not to mention mom's ever growing frustration. I was actually thinking before I took this picture, "where is my life going?" I looked up and there it was. I was looking for direction in my life...

Your pictures make me realize what a wonderful thing color is. Imagine our lives in black, white and shades of gray... I also liked your phrase "moving paint around on the canvas". Lovely.

I agree, art is about expression. Love the colors in the first picture! And the pictures all display a definite mood, even some drama.

I wouldn't say childlike - I say more like on the way to Georgia O Keefe. Where wuld we be without art and creating?!

Ok, so tell me this. How is it that you ended up as a nurse? You are so artistic, I love your pictures and I even really like your paintings. I think you've missed your calling. When you get the chance (maybe once JC is out of the house?!?!) you should go to art school to get your degree or something.
