"who's Guns n' Roses mom?"

Let's see, way back when little donut was starting junior high I remember asking my mom if Guns n' Roses were going to be on the oldies station when i got older, just like her songs were. Well, that day has come.

While we were listening to the radio for a TV free night, I started singing and doing the best damn axle Rose dance I could to "sweet child o' mine". JC looked up at me puzzled..Who's this? he asks.

JC's reply? "Mom...who's Guns n' Roses?"

That day has come, I'm a mom and my songs are on the "oldies" channel.

One day not so long ago, we were on our way home from the beach, windows down, blaring, "Highway to the danger zone" you know, from Top Gun. It was on the all 80's channel. Sigh, the cold death grip of being in our 30is is getting closer and closer.

I never think of being old around my kid till we talk about - "mom you didn't have cable when you were a kid? Some shows were in black and white still? No remote to change the channel when you were little? Elvis was still alive when you were a kid, really?"
Funny how we are now the old parents, to bad I don't feel it or act like it,hahaha!!!

Gee, If you are old, I am ancient...I just turned 51 and still feel in my 20's, except for my knees that crack and pop when I walk up and down the stairs...I can remember the day Elvis died and what I was doing almost 30 years ago...I was in a hospital room with my mom who just had surgery and I was crying at the t.v. watching the news about Elvis's death and my mom thought I was crying over her being in pain...LOL..I think having 4 grand-children are keeping me young along with laughter.

Oh...and I don't think I'm old either. It was just one of those mommy moments where now I know what my mom must have felt!

I have a firm belief that no one is old until they are in the ground or getting dusty on the mantel.
