I should be packing...

I should be folding laundry, or trying on clothes and shoes or even finding my luggage. But, I sit here, typing, doing nothing.

I managed to spend the entire day shopping and looking for clothes to take to Mexico. Those who have read my woes on clothes before know, it takes me over an hour to get dressed. Why? Because I have a horrible sense of body image. It's distorted and it's wrong. I look in the mirror and see something horrid and unknown to others around me. Getting dressed and even buying new clothes has always been uncomfortable for me. I'm ready to stop that. I want to enjoy clothes. I want to enjoy shopping.

So, I bought a summer dress despite my inner thoughts saying I looked "hippy". I decided that I'll try it and hope that I rock it in Cancun. It's something that I would never have picked, so I'm going for it. I suppose it's a new way for me to say, "hey, love yourself for what you are and move on".

I think this kind of thought is going to work for me this year, "Love yourself, be proud of yourself and take care of yourself".

Now that I've spilled my self-love thoughts, it's time to pack and find shoes. I'm thinking a trip to Target is needed. Speaking of Target, Jenny from Chased by Children is having a $100 Target Card giveaway. So go forth and enter. She'll love you for it and I'll love her more if I win. Because I need new shoes and underwear. (Really, I need underwear...)

hey, i love to rock the hippy on many an occasion...and Mexico is totally the place to do that.

I've never liked the way I look either, even when I've been thin I didn't think I looked good. I've come to feel a lot better about myself, because I'm really owning who "I" am and confident in my own soul. My packaging is something I can work on, but it doesn't totally define me. I don't know if that makes sense, but oh well. :)

You are beautiful and don't you forget it...size is just a number. I LOVE what Arianne said...the packaging is something we can work on, but No, it does not define you. I want to see your new hippie dress too...Us bloggers need to get a peek....share it.

Damn, missed the contest! OH well. And I think you look great in every single photo you've ever posted of yourself! I have horrible self image too so I know exactly what you are talking about.

Love yourself, be kind to yourself. Have a kick ass time in Cancun!

freakin'.
jealous.

I'm so jealous of your bathing suits and cute dresses and drinking while swimming and the warm, warm weather. I can't wait to hear all about it and see thousands of pictures. You deserve an amazing trip, D.

And you are totally rockin' - totally rockin'.

Let me clarify, the dress isn't "hippy" in the peace love and all that.

It pronounces my large hips.
I am a very hippy chick. Meaning. I have a big ass.

:D

Maybe I'll be brave a post a picture...I need adivce on shoes for it. I'm not good with shoes.

Milk & Honey is most excellent at shoes. And by the way, she is one of my "must" reads. But then moms are like that.

Good for you for going outside of you comfort zone...

And can I just say that after I read the first 5 words of this post, I wandered if you meant to put a link to Beth's blog...

I too have battled the self-image thing my whole life. Only in the past year have I really gotten comfortable with who I am. I'm sure you will totally rock it in Mexico. I am so jealous that you get to leave the negative temps here and head somewhere warm. I want to go too!

Packing is always rough, but lately I have found that when I pack last minute I am less likely to forget things. Who would have thought?! Hope you have an amazing time and come back with lots of stories!!
