Random thoughts of my vacation...

* We went to Mexico, to an all inclusive resort, hoping for great food since we are self declared foodies. Our taste buds longed for Mexican cuisine and *real* Mexican food, not the americanized preparation of such. We were disappointed to say the least, not a lick of the land's traditional cuisine. Steak, seafood, fruit and buffets full of American fried food. Yuck.

* You can't drink the water, so they give you plenty of bottled water. Which has lots of sodium in it. Oh how we longed for tap water at home. I can honestly say I was dehydrated and am currently still swollen. So swollen I have yet been able to remove my wedding band off my sausage like fingers. Bloated is an understatement.

*I missed brushing my teeth with tap water. Yes, the resort had a filter system, but I didn't trust it. Brushing your teeth with bottled water was odd. I was very happy to go brush my newly whitened teeth the moment I got home. Yes, I got my teeth whitened. Gone are the obvious signs of smoking for years!

*I swam with the dolphins and it was wonderful. JC started out with me, but quickly he began to get scared once he realized he couldn't touch the bottom of the lagoon. Although he did get to touch the dolphins. I would do it all over again too. Mr. Crookedeyebrow doesn't like the idea of swimming with dolphins in captivity. He compares it to riding the sad little ponies at the fair. You know the ones. The little ponies that have to have the 90# kid sit on him and walk around in a circle chasing a carrot. I have to agree with him, but I'm selfish and have always wanted to swim with these delicate beings. Did I say it was great? It was.

*Everyday the maid brought the resort guests a list of the next days activities, weather forecast and chocolate. Everyday it was 81 degrees with a low of 61 degrees. Can you say perfect? I loved being able to wake up, go swimming and put pants on in the evening. Loved it. The bad thing? coming home to Northwest Indiana to freezing temps and snow. Oh my, I miss Mexico.

* Taking a 7 year old on the trip has good and not so good points. Good? We showed JC a part of the world his parents never saw until they were adults. He was an age where he will most likely remember and hopefully he looks back on it knowing that he was a lucky child. The bad? we all shared a room. Enough said. Mr. Crooked Eyebrow and I were ocean side for a week, with an awesome view and yeah...I think you get my drift, THERE WAS A KID IN THE ROOM... hhmmm...

*The most memorable moment I have is snorkeling with Mr. Crookedeyebrow. Clear waters, high waves, snorkel mask and fins. Being that it was my first time, I was nervous jumping off the boat and he quickly grabbed my hand and swam with me. That was another one of those moments that will forever be frozen in my memory. Looking down through those ever sexy masks and watching him hold my hand and point to all the great fish. Yeah, it was dreamy. I think I still like him a little bit...(but we had no room to go back to remember, I took my 7 year old on the trip, all my fault)

*The wedding was beautiful, but went quickly.

*I wish I would have swam more and drank more. I miss Miguel at the pool side bringing me non-stop Blue Hawaiians. Think pina coladas with that blue crap(liquor) in it, all slushed up to yummy goodness. I had a blue tongue for days. Which by the way, didn't do me any good for just having my teeth whitened. I also looked like a sucking on a smurf. (wow did I jut type that?)

*There was a bar that has swings which JC loved. He even had frozen Shirley temples with the adults one night before we headed up to our room ( you know the one, the one we shared with a 7 year old). While he was swinging, he looked up and slapped the bar and proudly declared "I love this bar!"

photographic evidence...of mom's blue yummy drink too

* I have many, many pictures to share, just as soon as I can manage to get to all of them. 1000+ of them.

*At one point I was taking pictures of all the food. Then I got hungry and just couldn't wait and the thought of getting my camera out each time, quite honestly, I think people were starting to look at me kinda funny. An over weight American woman taking pictures of her food, just might look a little incriminating to a supposed to be weight watcher.

*JC woke me up before sunrise one morning to tell me to get up and go take pictures of all the colors. So, I did.

* Remember that "hippy" dress i spoke of before my trip? Well, I meant hippy as in "i have a large ass kinda hippy", but i did wear it. Proof...

* disclaimer, if I was in the pictures, Mr. Crooked eyebrow took the pictures. Like this ironic one of a maid scrubbing of bird poop. Enjoy!

*One final thought, if you ever plan to go out of the country, don't pack your discover card. No one accepts it and it will leave you stranded with no pesos. No pesos=no fun.

What a great vacation.
I'm sure being alone, just the two of you would have been wonderful. But, you would have missed JC if you didn't take him. Either way you always wish what if we would have done....

Great pic from your trip and I think you look awesome in your dress.

I swear I think I stayed at the same hotel in Mexico a few years ago. Or maybe every Mexican hotel has a cool "swing" bar. I think that may have been my favorite part of my Mexican adventure...however my husband and I did not have our kids in our hotel room...if you get my drift. Very fun. All of your picutres make me want to go back soooo bad.

What an awesome vacation! But I can't help but wonder, your mom was there right? Couldn't she have taken JC for an afternoon or something for a little mommy and daddy alone time? Either way you looked fabulous! I'm so jealous you got to swim with dolphins!

So much to comment on. Most importantly, you in that dress? AWESOME. Seriously.

The rest of the post is incredible, the pictures, the stories, I love hearing about your vacation and I can't wait to hear more.

At least when you got home into ICE COLD INDIANA you and Mr. Crooked Eyebrow had something to look forward to, RIGHT?!?!?!?!

I'm afraid of flying, even though I have flown five times before. Anyway, that place might just be worth the risk.

I remember on an episode of $40 a day,(Food Network), Rachael Ray swam with dolphins in Hawaii. I was so jealous, now I am jealous of you...that must have been the best time!

Are you gonna sell prints of any of your shots, I would love to have one of that lighthouse.
