10 things, part V

10 things, part V

"Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold..."

Way back when, possibly in the first grade ,I remember signing this in my brownie troop while learning about friendship. To this day, I truly believe friends old and new are so very important and each special person holds a certain place in your heart.

Sadly over the years I have lost many friends. Whether it was me becoming a mother very early, not going away to school or just plain growing up, they are gone and I miss each person so very much. Only fond memories to overshadow what feels missing.

Now for the first time in many, many years I feel like I have friends. Friends that I can genuinely laugh with, talk to and share my crooked humor with. Having people that just accept you for who you are, what you stand for and just "get you" is such a wonderful feeling that I miss having in my life. Besides my husband, sister and my family, there are not that many people I have let into my life(personally outside of the blog Some days it feels like I'm a butterfly opening my wings for the first time. It's quite lovely. Quite lovely.

So, my fifth thing I love about my life is friendship, both old and new.

You are right friends new and old are the greatest. It's sad to lose friends but always a blessing to make new ones.

But new more than old, right? RIGHT?

:) You're awesome.

Wait a sec... would I be new or old? Hmm.

A very good thing. And one thing about certain friends that just "get you" is that I think we enjoy each others' flaws more than our strengths. Which is a good thing because I have a lot of flaws...

Friendships are such rare jewels, and once you get out of school years, its extremely hard to find good ones, and connect. I'm so happy that you have found some new great ones!

Great post! I remember that song from brownies too.

Friendship is a great thing to have and to make time for, one thing I wish I did more often.

I totally remember this song from Brownies too! I know what you mean about missing friends who are no longer in your life. I have some people like that, who I will always love and miss.

My daughter sings this song for brownies too. LOL.

I love making new friends, but cherish my "old" friends even more with each new person that I meet. The "old" friends, know me, have known me. There is comfort there, eventually the "new" know me this way too, but it is grea to get with old friends that just know...already.

It's been a while since I could say the same. I look forward to that day. I fear it may be a while yet, being at home all the time. I loved having friends and being one.
