I blinked...

A quick blink and my weekend disappeared, just as fast as it came. Time is flying by so quickly and my only wish is to slow it down so I can actually feel like I'm living my life not just going through motions. Life is one big hurry and for once I want to smell the roses. Lately it seems as if I only get a blurred look at them.

Sadly as our summer comes to an end (school starts in 10 days) and a new family schedule is to begin. There will be a new kind of hustle and bustle that the Crooked family has not had in a while. Caring for a puppy, Mr. CE's new job, the second grade jitters, hours of football and yet somehow we'll all still need to manage a home. (I can't promise clean floors or laundry) I'm looking forward to it, but I do wish there was enough time to take it all in.

For a few hours today we did just that, JC, Baba and I took in all that this beautiful world had to offer. (actually it was an afternoon of trying to cheer up a crabby, over-tired boy) Together as a family, we sat outside. Simple. At one point while JC was laying in the hammock and a butterfly landed on his (stinky) toes. With much excitement he screamed with delight to show us and for those few seconds while chasing the butterfly I didn't blink, being too afraid to miss a moment. We were all taking it in this afternoon, life's moments and it was good.

"That butterfly was God's way of showing you just how delicate and beautiful your life is..."

Oh, now that was special. But I admit I was waiting for a Jack Handey moment there for a minute after your quote LOL.

I think we all feel like this sometimes. If only life would slow down a little and stop running past us while we try to keep up.

Jack Handey moment! :) hehehe

I feel the same way so many times. I wish I could slow time down a little as we are about to celebrate Monkey's 2nd b-day. Where did the time go? How do I have 14 and 11 yr old boys? When did they get that big? I think I'll take your advice and slow down today too and take in the beauty of the mountains and watching the kids place outside. Thanks...

It is unbelievable how fast time flies by. I'm so happy for you all that you got to enjoy some time "just being." We have talked about getting a new puppy, but with me heading back to school we thought it may be a bit much. Hopefully next summer we will have a new addition in our family. I always get a wee bit depressed around this time as we prepare to say goodbye to summer and a new school year. I can't believe I'm going to have a 2nd graders either!! Have a great week and don't blink too much!!

Oh, What a sweet post. Good times are right in our own back yard. I know what you mean about blinking and being afraid of missing something. I felt that way on Saturday when we were at the beach. I wanted to enjoy my whole family and not miss 1 thing that the kids were doing or saying. I blinked and it was over, just like that. Thank God we have our pictures to look back at. Happy Monday!

I'm wondering where the summer went too.

I love the very last part of your post, so sweet.

Ah, I think we all feel that way. I know I do. It's amazing how fast life moves sometimes. And I do have to stop myself sometimes, because in all the rushing around, I miss out on those wonderful little moments.

We need to learn how to blink less!
