Finally, it's done. My kitchen that is.

Remember way back in July when the Crooked Family started a demolition process? Yes, that one. The one where my parents gutted our kitchen and worked like hell for the next few months to give us a better one, all before Miss E made her appearance.

Go ahead, look back at the before (because I was too lazy to put up a comparison here)

Well after a lot of sweat, tears, decision making and panic, the new Crooked Family Kitchen is done. (well besides any curtains or decorating)

No longer am I washing dishes in the tub. No more toaster/microwave breakfasts. I even have use of the stove top again! Holla! My kitchen is back and is beautiful.

Yes folks, I even have a dishwasher (which I never have had) and even a pantry! Before our new transformation, all of our food was shoved and crammed into sad cabinets. Now, I have space. Space for stuff. I am a stranger to having space in the kitchen.

I am so happy and in love with it that I can't wait to start cooking and baking...and I hate to cook.

BUT

I do need suggestions. See that BIG window? Yeah, that one. It's lovely but it offers no privacy so blinds and or curtains are needed. Not to cover up the sunlight though. Any thoughts or suggestions? I am not a window treatment savvy kind of gal. AT ALL.

Even color suggestions are helpful. I was thinking like a dark cranberry accent for things, matched with golds, sages and such. How does that sound? So maybe I'm not just window treatment challenged, but color challenged too...

HELP.

Congratulations! It's beautiful, and I stink at interior design too. However, I am a fan of roman blinds - that's my suggestion. :)

It looks fantastic! I miss having a pantry so much. I'm a little green with envy over here.

That's awesome...lucky you don't have to do dishes in the tub anymore...that couldn't have been comfortable at all!

I second the roman blinds. We have them in our large front room window. We did two small ones on the side and one larger one in the middle so I can have any of them open. Got mine at target.

Looks great! Must feel SO good to be done...in time for baby. I have no suggestions for window treatments. I am decorating-challenged.

Oh, man...what a relief! It must feel like heaven when you walk through, it's amazing.

As far as the window, it's such a huge, beautiful kitchen window, I'd hate to see cover it with blinds...perhaps something like this? http://www.potterybarn.com/products/marisa-crewel-drape/?pkey=cdrapes

LOVE the new kitchen. What about vertical blinds or the Roman shades...in a darker color. Or even a valance at the top with the vertical fabric blinds...or wooden shades...See, I'm no help, too much to choose from. Congrats! Happy Cooking.

Can I just say I am crazy impressed that you have been washing dishes in a tub while pregnant?? Your kitchen is beautiful!!

We have a couple large windows like yours, and for night and direct sunlight hours we installed cellular shades on ours. That way we have full light when we want it, and privacy when we want that too. :o)

I can't believe how close you are!!

I'd go with the cellular shades! You can pull em' up in the day time to see outside, pull em' down at night for privacy, and best of all.. no dusting! Yay!

Wow, it's so fresh and new and beautiful and... it's DONE! WHEE!!

And for the window, I think a nice wooden blind or seagrass type blind (close to the color of the cabinets) or a roman shade... any of those would be lovely!

Simply Spectacular! I am so thrilled its done and you have a dishwasher!!! YAY!! I am so happy for you!
On the window (I'm the one, who's husband does all the picking and decorating) I love the cranberry idea. I do like blinds, but I don't like dusting! The kitchen is so crisp and clean! Soften or sharpen it, hmmm questions questions! Yep no help here!
Just Yay!!!

Here's my wooden nickel's worth: Don't do a heavy color or heavy window treatment...it will weigh the room down. Since I'm opposed to dusting myself, I've gone with an almost see-through curtain that is linen like in a natural tan. Privacy is maintained and I can still see out my window.
If you love cranberry, grab a couple dish towels in that color or bring that color into a quaint centerpiece for your table.
You've got a lovely sitting area with your kitchen table in front of a fab' window. Keep that view unobstucted.
Do what you love:) God Bless, Jen

Oh! It looks so amazing! I know it's a huge relief!!!

Being someone who is pantry and dishwasher challenged, I know your pain, and am a little jealous now. But, I do think after having to wash dishes in a tub, you deserve only the best :)

Guess Miss E. didn't arrive on my birthday :)
