Let me fill you in...
For the past 3-4 evenings I have had contractions. Contractions where I grip my belly and say "this is it!" Obviously I was wrong because as I type this on Friday morning at 4:15 am I am still pregnant.
I've been hopeful, excited, disappointed and worried but life goes on because I know our sweet Miss E will be here even if we have to go in after her. (remind me to ground her if we have to)
A few days ago I began to feel sick. Like with a cold sick. My doula suggested that my body would not let me go into labor while ill, so I did take a day off and sleep. That must of helped because the next day (Thursday) I woke up, went to the chiropractor and started having waves of tightness as I completed all my last to-do's for Miss E.
As the day progresses (last night Thursday) I started to make apple pies. Pies that I do not eat, but Mr. CE does...anywhoo...around 4 pm i started timing contractions. The contractions were coming on so fast and so strong that when I was timing them they were about 3 minutes apart and lasting almost 2 minutes.
I chatted with Erin, called the doula. The doula then began to tell me that me uterus was irritated. Hello? I'm irritated, I've been doing this crap for days! I can't call people because they all assume I'm in the hospital or in labor when I'm not. Do you know how annoying that is? very.
me and my irritated uterus hit the floor for an hour for pelvic rocks, tilts and God knows what else. My doula told me to....so I did. The contractions slowed down but remained consistent lasting for about 1 min, with 5-6 minutes apart.
This goes on for hours until about 9pm when the contractions start fading. Mr. CE hugged me and I cried. Crying out of frustration must of helped because I started having stronger ones...
are you tired of my uterus yet? I am...
So 10 pm rolls around and my hourly check in with my doula arrives. The verdict? The midwife tells me to take Tylenol PM and rest. "if it's real labor the contractions will continue and you will rest a bit". My mouth dropped and I gave up thinking "whatever, they will stop, they always do."
Have you ever slept and still felt contractions? Strange feeling.
3:30 am this morning (Friday) rolls around and I'm wide awake on the couch with a contraction and a full bladder. Holy cow did it hurt. I got in the bathroom and started freezing with the shakes and got into the shower. (I can't go to the hospital stinky and with hairy legs). A few contractions in shower and could possibly be convinced that I just might give birth today.
There you have it. I sit here in my towel, at my kitchen table at 4:30 AM on Friday October 9, 2009 praying that today is the day that I meet my miracle baby girl, Miss E.
because contractions...oh I got'em.
