my answer

Looking back ten years ago today, I can remember the little details perfectly. It was bright, sunny and slightly chilly. It was an unusually nice spring day for Northwest Indiana. The day was full of hope, more than I realized...

Mr CE and I, before he was Mr. CE, headed out of the house and before we did, he said "grab the camera, it's nice out". I remember walking out of the apartment wondering why, but I never questioned him.

I was wearing a green Eddie Bauer fleece pullover and my sunglasses in my hair. The sunroof on his black Chevy caviler was open and the music was turned up. It was a nice start to a typical weekend for us. I remember glancing over at him while he drove. I did this often. So handsome...

We pulled over to our favorite sandwich shop and before I knew it he was driving us to the Dunes. (Lake Michigan). Just a few months prior to this we were on one of our first dates there. I remember being SO nervous that day. That date at the beach was when I realized after years of knowing him, I was falling in love (hard) with him. Our first date at the beach we laughed, skipped rocks into the water, walked and talked. While we were walking I remember the butterflies in the pit of my stomach. Honestly, I when I look at him, I still feel that way.

Now that I think about it... I still have one of the rocks he told me to keep on that first date...

So I didn't think to much of him driving so far out to go eat our lunch. Back then we weren't under time restraints with children or baby sitters. It was just us. Hours could be wasted while doing nothing back then.( I miss that)

As we ate, we laughed, joked, took photos but then he dug into his pocket and got down and asked me a question.

I had no idea it was coming, honestly, and it only took me a fraction of a second to reply.

10 years ago today, I gave one of my best answers yet, I said yes.

Then we took a self photo. One of many to come over the years. It's a thing we do. I think we are due for another soon. I wish I could share that photo today (no scanner). It's our favorite, I think it always will be.

Just picture two young people in love, caught in the moment. A moment I was happy to have said "yes" to...
